This 21" necklace is a combination of Amazonite, Turquoise, and hand made beads of silver, coral and turquoise from mysterious and fascinating Tibet which is often called, "The Roof of the World" because it's altitude is 14,750. Mt Everest is on the boarder of Tibet and Nepal and it's granduer is easily visable when flying from one country to the other.
Amazonite is a natural stone found in Russia, Africa, Brazil, United States, Mongolia, but never in the Amazon region! It can be opaque or translucent, shades of blue or green with a white background. It is thought it was a marketing tactic to name it Amazonite after the rain forest in the Amazon River region.
The turquoise centerpiece has a variety of pretty colors. The faceted amazonite of various sizes are combined with silver spacer beads, translucent amazonite and of course, the interesting Tibetan beads. I used a turquoise thread for stringing and knotting between each bead. And it has a whimsical, easy to use "fish clasp."
