1945, Oh, What a Year! The war was over, the boys were coming home and the baby boom began! Let's not forget the famous kiss in Times Square. Hope was in the air.
The Mercury Dime was made from 1916-1945 and designed by Adolph Weiman. It is often referred to as the Winged Liberty Head dime. It gained its name because of the young Liberty identified by her winged cap, but some mistook it for the Roman god, Mercury. Hense, it was later called the Mercury dime. The opposite side of the coin has a fasces which is a symbol for Unity and Strenght and an olive branch for Peace.
The coin has been set in Alchemia to create a pendant. Alchemia is a solid metal that will not tarnish or change color. It is Hypoallergenic. I have placed the pendant on a silver plate neckring, but it would good on gold or an Alchemia neckring, too. The neckrings are sold separately on the website or at the event for $30.
